Involvement with youth mental health and research interests and activities: 

Andrea graduated with a MD in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Malta in 2011 and furthered her clinical training in Malta. She was awarded a CCBST for completing her Basic Psychiatry Training in 2016 and became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2017. Andrea started to work at Mount Carmel Hospital in July 2013 then in the UK from August 2017 and since then has worked towards the improvement of both clinical and academic standards of psychiatry with a special interest in youth mental health.

She attended training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule apart from attending the regular postgraduate training. Andrea has shown fervour in academia from the beginning of her training, she has participated in a number of research studies and audits relating to youth mental health. She has presented her work at national and international conferences.

Andrea is an executive member of the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (ACAMH) - Malta Branch, forms part of the Maltese Association of Psychiatry education subcommittee and the psychiatry subcommittee for the Medical Association of Malta.
